The weather will partly
dictate when/where you decide to travel and what to
pack. Friends of mine recently returned from a holiday
at the beach resort of Nusa Dua, Bali. They envisaged
themselves tanning in the sun, and relaxing by the pool.
Problem was they set off in January which is at the
height of the rainy season. As a consequence, they spent
much of their time in a hotel room watching in-house
movies.
Don’t let this happen
to you! – Research the local weather and plan
accordingly This tool will help you to research
the local weather at your holiday
destination.
The Weather Channel (www.weather.com) provides
comprehensive weather information and forecasts for just
about any destination. Other than 10 day forecasts, the
Weather Channel provides some very informative tools
tailored especially towards us travelers - especially
the Vacation Planner tool located at: http://www.weather.com/activities/travel/vacationplanner/
Some especially useful tools
include:
“Sightseeing
Index” A scale rating how attractive sightseeing
will be for that day. It calculates this by taking into
consideration all weather factors including temperature,
rain, fog, humidity
etc.
“Find the best time to
visit” The best time (based on the weather)
to visit your intended destination can be determined via
a graphically illustrated Climate Graph. A Climate Graph
plots high/low temperatures and average rainfall for
each month of the
year.
